Op zondag 22 januari vindt er in Rotterdam een protest plaats van de organisatie Reclaim Rotterdam. Dit naar aanleiding van de racistische en fascistische teksten die in de nieuwjaarsnacht op de Erasmusbrug geprojecteerd werden. Uiteraard is BIJ1 hier ook van de partij. Lees hieronder de verklaring van de organsatie.

Verklaring en oproep protest tegen fascisme en racisme

Rotterdam is tijdens de jaarwisseling geschokt en verontwaardigd door het projecteren van racistische en neo-nazi teksten op de Erasmusbrug. Deze racistische en fascistische provocatie kwam van de neo-nazi groep "White Lives Matter" die onder andere via social media hun haatzaaiende propaganda van verdeeldheid verspreidt. In het afgelopen jaar zijn er meer provocaties uit dezelfde hoek geweest – zij keren zich tegen Joods gemeenschappen, maar ook tegen moskeeën, zelfs werd een poging gedaan tot een "Koran-verbranding", ook keren zij zich tegen de LHBTQIA+ gemeenschap.

Vluchtelingen, asielzoekers, Zwarte mensen, mensen van kleur, LHBTQIA+ mensen, Joden, Moslims, Roma en Sinti, gehandicapte mensen e.a. worden vandaag gestigmatiseerd met dezelfde leugens van onder andere de fascistische NSB, de Nederlandse tak van Hitler's nazi partij. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd Rotterdam ook nog gebombardeerd door de fascisten van Nazi-Duitsland en duizenden mensen zijn toen gedeporteerd naar concentratiekampen.

Natuurlijk was er ook verzet tegen deze barbaarse misdaden. Monumenten van het verzet tegen fascisme en racisme zijn er ook in Rotterdam. De historische les van deze periode die wereldwijd tientallen miljoenen mensen het leven heeft gekost is "Nooit meer Fascisme!".

Wij leven en werken nu, net als tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog in een situatie van chronische, kapitalistische crises en witte suprematie: van de wooncrisis tot klimaatcrisis. De onvrede en onzekerheid die het gevolg is daarvan wordt door de neo-nazi's misbruikt om mensen met dezelfde belangen tegen elkaar op te zetten. Ook wij verzetten ons hier tegen en staan voor eenheid van alle werkers, en voor internationale solidariteit.

Ook in Nederland is de VN-Verklaring van de Rechten van de Mens ondertekend. Desondanks projecteren verschillende kranten en media het racistische gif met vette koppen, worden de nationalistische terreurgroepen een platform gegeven om te werven en zien we steun betuigingen van politici.

Ook vandaag is het verzet tegen racisme en fascisme hier aanwezig. Denk aan de Black Lives Matter protesten op dezelfde Erasmusbrug, die met een antiracistische en solidaire boodschap duizenden mensen trok. Denk aan de Rotterdamse organisaties waar mensen zich hard maken om meer vluchtelingen met open armen te verwelkomen. Denk aan alle mensen die hun steun betuigen.

Wij strijden voor een rechtvaardige en sociale samenleving waarin mensenrechten worden gerespecteerd en wij verenigen ons in verzet tegen fascisme en racisme. Wij willen een toekomst in vrede, zonder oorlog, en in solidariteit met elkaar.

Daarom zeggen wij: "Toen Niet – Nu Niet – Nooit meer Fascisme! No Pasaran."

On Sunday, 22 January there will be a protest in Rotterdam, organized by the collective Reclaim Rotterdam. This protest is a reaction to the racist and fascist slogans that were projected onto the Erasmus bridge on New Year's Eve. Of course, BIJ1 will be present as well. Declaration and call for protest against fascism and racism

At the turn of the year, Rotterdam was disrupted by the projection of racist and neo-Nazi texts on the Erasmus Bridge. This racist and fascist provocation came from the neo-Nazi group "White Lives Matter", who spread their hate-mongering propaganda of division through social media, among others. In the past year there have been more neo-Nazi provocations – against jewish communities, but also at mosques, there was even an attempted "Koran burning", and there's been ongoing violence against the LGBTQIA+ community.

Refugees, asylum seekers, Black people, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, Jews, Muslims, Roma and Sinti, disabled people and others are stigmatized today with the same lies of the fascist NSB, and the Dutch branch of Hitler's Nazi party. During the Second World War, Rotterdam was bombed by the fascists of Nazi Germany and thousands of people were deported to concentration camps.

There was also resistance to these barbaric crimes against humanity. Monuments to the resistance against fascism and racism are also found in Rotterdam. The historical lesson of this period that claimed the lives of tens of millions of people worldwide is "Never again Fascism!".

We now live and work, as we did during World War II, in a situation of chronic, capitalist crises and white supremacy: from the housing crisis to the climate crisis. The resulting dissatisfaction and insecurity is used by the neo-Nazis to pit people with the same interests against each other. We resist this and stand for unity of all workers, and for international solidarity.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights has also been signed in the Netherlands. Despite this, various newspapers and media platforms project the racist threats with bold headlines, which means the nationalist terror groups are given a platform to recruit, and we ́ve even seen statements of support from politicians.

Resistance against racism and fascism is also present today. Think of the Black Lives Matter protests on the same Erasmus Bridge, which attracted thousands of people with an anti-racist and solidarity message. Think of the Rotterdam organizations where people are committed to welcoming more refugees with open arms. Think of all the people who support us.

We fight for a just and connected society in which human rights are respected. We unite in resistance against fascism and racism. We want a future in peace, without war, and in solidarity with each other.

That's why we say: "Not then – Not now – No more Fascism! No Pasaran."
